This article from E-consultancy highlights the problem with Google now encrypting keyword data, (not provided) making a more noticeable appearance on your stats.

There are a couple of observations I can make from this. Google is obviously confident that it no longer needs to prove how important it is to webmasters. It also now provides Google with the opportunity to make this information a premium service, perhaps in Google Analytics (another shock horror - Google charging for a service?)

So now it is official. Google takes no notice of keywords placed in your websites meta tag information.
However I do feel the keyword meta tag is useful. My advice would be to continue using it for targeted keywords. Other search engines such as Bing still appear to make some use of the keyword meta tag.
